What do we do?
Our engineers are fully qualified and trained in inspecting and testing electrical appliances. We use battery-operated handheld machines and plug IEC leads straight into them to test for earth, insulation and polarity. Other appliances are tested by plugging into the machine and applying a probe lead to contact an earth point on the appliance.
Our engineer carries out a Class 2 insulation test if the appliance is not earthed. All screwed plug tops are undone, and wires, fuses and terminals are checked to ensure that everything fits correctly. All leads are inspected to check for any cuts. We will support any business with any PAT concerns.
Who are North East PAT testing?
We are based in County Durham and take bookings all over the North East of England. We offer fair prices from as little as £1 per appliance to a maximum £1.50 which would include an itemised list of all appliances.

What is PAT testing?
Although this is not a legal requirement current UK legislation states any business must maintain all electrical equipment to a safe condition. Insurance companies and health & safety representatives will normally also insist that this be carried out.
Furthermore, it is your responsibility to ensure that the electrical appliances in your environment are safe to use because you, your staff, colleagues, customers and visitors are all at risk if an appliance is not tested and is faulty.
Holiday homes
If you have a holiday home that you let out, you have a legal obligation to ensure that any electrical appliances in your property with the potential to cause injury are kept in a safe condition for your visitors to use.
The best way is to carry out regular visual inspections and PAT testing.
What is difference between PAT and EET?
This change removes the mobility requirement of previous versions of the Code of Practice - and hence changes the name of the activity from Portable Appliance testing (PAT) to Electrical
Equipment testing (EET).
